Dave is a lifelong artist and musician. He started painting landscapes in 1990, just after graduating from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Composition.  He immediately found that the language and principles of his composition studies translated beautifully to the canvas, and steeped himself in the visual rhythms, textures, forms and harmonies of nature as applied to a 2D surface.  He painted mostly from his imagination, based on scenes that he regularly saw in and around eastern MA, where he was living.  

Art and music were put somewhat on the back burner for years as family and business became more central.  However the 2010’s brought about a strong resurgence of creative energy which came to a dramatic head in early 2020, when the world shut down, he lost his business and an artist friend introduced him to plein-air painting.   All arrows pointed to pursuing landscape painting professionally.
