About Julia O’Malley‑Keyes

Julia O’Malley‑Keyes is widely recognized as one of the foremost maritime and coastal artists working today. With a childhood spent between Greenwich, Connecticut and Cape Cod, O’Malley‑Keyes sold her first painting at just 16 and moved to Cape Cod permanently in 1969.

Her work is marked by meticulous realism and an intimate knowledge of the sea—whether depicting classic yachts, harbor scenes, or rugged New England shoreline. She studied under Henry Hensche and spent years refining her craft, eventually founding her own galleries: Day Hill Fine Art in 1996 and, later, O’Malley‑Keyes Fine Art in Falmouth.

O’Malley‑Keyes has been honored with Signature status in the American Society of Marine Artists and her paintings and prints are held in private and corporate collections worldwide, including public maritime museums and luxury collectors’ portfolios.

Her subject matter is diverse—beyond high‑sail schooners, she has painted florals, landscapes, portraiture, and more—but always with a dedication to craftsmanship and clear narrative. As she explains: “I believe that creating art, at least positive art, makes both the artist and collector more human.”

Today, Julia O’Malley‑Keyes continues to paint from her studio on Cape Cod, producing richly detailed works that blend precision, scenic heritage, and timeless appeal—offering collectors scenes of salt glimpsed in light, wind, and memory.
