About Terry Peca

Terry Peca is an Upstate New York-based painter living in the foothills of the Adirondacks. A lifelong artist, Peca’s creative journey began in early childhood — drawing constantly, painting murals on her bedroom walls, and spending college weekends sketching from live models. Her early love of pen and ink evolved into layered compositions using watercolor and washes, a foundation that continues to influence her approach today.

Over the years, Terry has studied under a wide range of established, award-winning artists, including Bernard Dellario, Ann Larsen, Mary Bentz Gilkerson, and Rita DiCaprio. Her artistic practice deepened in 2016 when she turned to oil paint — drawn to its intensity, richness, and texture. Working primarily in oils, she often incorporates cold wax and palette knife, creating bold, expressive works that balance structure and spontaneity.

Peca continues to explore new mediums, recently adding gouache to her repertoire for its portability and ability to create crisp, impactful designs. Her evolving process reflects a commitment to curiosity, study, and the pursuit of dynamic, engaging compositions.
